In recent years garden roofs have obtained growing acceptance in the international architect community for their obvious great environmental and decorative value. A green roof is a great tool to mitigate the environmental impact of a building.
A green roof built with DRAINROOF adds environmental value to the building, recreating a viable and naturally enjoyable ecology within the city.
The recent Italian Law UNI 11235:2015 “Criteria for design, execution, testing and maintenance of roof garden” instructs on how to design green roofs. Indications are given on the system build-up, the whole stratigraphy and the characteristics of the plant and vegetation layers, the drainage-, ventilation- and water storage elements and the natural resistance to biologic attacks.
A clear definition is also given for INTENSIVE and EXTENSIVE GREEN ROOFS based on the amount of energy required to create and maintain them.
UNI 11235:2015 is an essential tool for garden roof designers and creators.
